News: Confirmed. Lindsey Morgan to the Role of Kristina Corinthos

TVLine is reporting that "General Hospital" has recast the role of Kristina Adela Corinthos Davis, previously played by Lexi Ainsworth, who left in October.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis' (Nancy Lee Grahn) daughter will now be played by Lindsey Morgan, who has previously had roles on "Happy Endings" and "How I Met Your Mother." She will make her debut in Port Charles on May 22.

Morgan confirmed the announcement on her Twitter page today. "I finally get to talk about it! Officially playing Kristina on General Hospital! Ahhhh!"

Lexi Ainsworth (ex-Kristina) took to Twitter in regards to the recast and stated, "Thank you guys for all your support but I won't be reprising the role of Kristina. I loved her but I've also loved being free to do film. I enjoyed meeting Frank & I know you will love the new Kristina that he has found. I learned so much from my 'GH' home & want to grow further."

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) also sounded off and tweeted, "Lexi's already got offers for many Primetime projects. She didn't want to sign contract & Kristina contract role. IMO she made the right decision."

Appearence: Jen Lilley To Be Honoured.

General Hospital's Jen Lilley (Maxie) will be the guest of honor at Lynchburg's CINEviews French Film Festival, which kicks off Friday and continues with six film screenings throughout the weekend. Lilley, who appeared in the Oscar-winning silent film "The Artist," will take part in a special Q&A session.

In an interview with The Burg Weekly Entertainment Guide, she talks about her relief at the renewal of "General Hospital," and how playing the role of Maxie has helped her develop as an actress.

"Soaps are crazy difficult to work on," she said. "They’re kind of the most difficult medium to work on, and I’m not just saying that because I’m on it. I knew that going on. We shoot about 120 pages a day. In a normal show … 7 ½ pages is like a nightmare. We shoot 120 pages, and 30 to 40 of those are my own dialogue. You have to be able to improv, even though they want it to be script word perfect. If you mess up or if you flub, you have to be able to … make it look like it’s just part of the script."

News: So The Revolution Has Been Cancelled! What Now?

With the exciting news that General Hospital has been renewed for a year, it's time to take a breath and figure out what this all means for the viewers, the network, and other ABC daytime programs.

When will General Hospital air?

The daytime schedule has not yet been set by ABC. Best guess is that once Katie debuts in the fall, GH will move to 2 p.m. However, that is not definite.

Since The Revolution has been cancelled, what will replace it pre-Katie?

Beginning in July, with the end of The Revolution, ABC will air a spinoff of Good Morning, America called GMA In The Afternoon. ABC is undoubtedly floating a test balloon to see how this show does, with an eye toward airing it as a possible replacement, perhaps for General Hospital, down the line.

Interview: Ron Carlivati and Kimberley McCullough

This is an excerpt from the Soap In Depth Interview:

RC: “The first day I laid out (for GH) was the episode right after the explosion. I believe in the original version, you would see her death. There was talk that Patrick would attempt to operate and be unable to save her, and I felt strongly right away, that it was important that in the end, there would be hope that Robin could be alive – for a couple of reasons. First, just in the overall general landscape of daytime, with these shows going off the air and soap fans feeling so lost and disenfranchised and giving up hope for their shows, I wanted there to hope that this was not the end of Robin’s story. That was important, and whether the show stays on for one year or 50 years, I wanted to leave the door open that Robin is going to come back and get her happy ending at some point.

The reason that it was held was that we could milk the genuine emotion of her loss before you knew there’s a chance that she is still out there. We ended up having so much material (during Robin’s funeral) that five episodes became six so we could explore nearly every possible moment of emotion, and grief that any of the various characters would experience.”

KMc: “We had a conversation about it, me, Frank Valentini and Ron, before I even met them. Ron told me he wasn’t comfortable with Robin being “completely dead”. He thought it would be better for the show and the fans if Robin was out there somewhere, and they would love for me to come back someday if I could or wanted to, or God forbid, the show was cancelled. They wanted to leave the door open for the good of the character, and I was absolutely fine with that.”

NEWS:
-The insiders that are “dropping” that JaSam is “safe” uh, no…they are most definitely not. IF GH gets an extended shelf-life (and it’s appearing more and more that they are), JaSam is pretty much guaranteed to end. I realize that those fans who are serious, die-hard JaSam fans are determined to believe that JaSam is safe, but they need to accept that they’re not. At all. And NO, RC nor FV have NEVER said publicly or otherwise that they will be. Paraphrasing, they’ve said JaSam will weather storms to see if they CAN overcome them, but they HAVE NOT said that JaSam is a FOR SURE GOING TO.

Quote: Will Kate and Connie ever meet?

Kelly Sullivan answered this question in a recent interview, "Soon. Without giving too much away, the episode between Kate and Connie is chilling. I call it my Gollum scenes from 'Lord of the Rings,' when he's having his moment on the log as Gollum and Smeagol. It's just so cool.

Connie always says how much of a fool Kate is and she feels many things about Kate that aren't positive, but she loves Kate and wants to help her. Ultimately, it's about finding out who's stronger. Connie is going to try to overpower Kate and take them over. 'Just have a seat, and let me do this.' Kate's going to have to find the strength to stop her, which is a beautiful story."
