News: Carolyn Henessy on 'True Blood'

The premiere of "True Blood" Season 5 is almost upon us and Zap2it got a chance to speak to one of the new cast members, Carolyn Hennesy. This veteran of "Cougar Town" and "General Hospital" is thrilled to be a part of the show. She tells us all about her character Rosalyn Harris, marathoning the show and which team she's on.

On her new character, she revealed

"She's very old, as vampires go. And as for where she came from originally is yet to be determined, I would say. For the last, let's say two or three hundred years, she's called the Southwest home. Particularly Texas. Roslyn is one of those great dames,
great broads who helped to settle the old West, so she's as comfortable in a salon as she is in an opera house. Pearls with everything, the hair can never be too high and a shot of whiskey will just make her day."

Interview: Jane Elliot On Playing The Gueen Of Mean

Is there a greater force of nature than Jane Elliot? The Emmy-winning suds sensation signed up to play General Hospital witch Tracy Quartermaine back in 1978 and she's still kicking ass and taking names. Need proof? "Jane really keeps me on my game," says six-time Emmy winner Tony Geary (Luke). "She will bust your balls if you show up less than 100 percent ready, and I like that! There's no one I'd rather work with, no one I'd rather take a note from. When she takes me aside, I listen." So do we! TV Guide Magazine spoke with Elliot — a brilliant, fearless actress who rarely gives interviews — to find out what it's like to play the soap world's most unapologetic hellion. Retirement, empty-nest syndrome, playing a nun opposite Elvis — we covered it all!

TV Guide Magazine: Why, as Tracy, do you never seem to worry about alienating the audience? Viewers love you because you don't care if we love you!Elliot: Somebody has to wear the black hat and give the audience someone to shake their fists at. They want someone to hate. And if that's what you want to pay me to do, I'm happy to do it! A show owes it to the audience to give them a place to vent. There is a profound contrast between the way I live my life and what I do when I go to work. I never get the two of us confused. I never wear

-Kristina meets Michael's new friend Starr and the claws come out: Kristina will become the wild child Alexis never dreamed of...

Friday, 20 April 2012

News: Confirmed. Lindsey Morgan to the Role of Kristina Corinthos

TVLine is reporting that "General Hospital" has recast the role of Kristina Adela Corinthos Davis, previously played by Lexi Ainsworth, who left in October.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis' (Nancy Lee Grahn) daughter will now be played by Lindsey Morgan, who has previously had roles on "Happy Endings" and "How I Met Your Mother." She will make her debut in Port Charles on May 22.

Morgan confirmed the announcement on her Twitter page today. "I finally get to talk about it! Officially playing Kristina on General Hospital! Ahhhh!"

Lexi Ainsworth (ex-Kristina) took to Twitter in regards to the recast and stated, "Thank you guys for all your support but I won't be reprising the role of Kristina. I loved her but I've also loved being free to do film. I enjoyed meeting Frank & I know you will love the new Kristina that he has found. I learned so much from my 'GH' home & want to grow further."

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) also sounded off and tweeted, "Lexi's already got offers for many Primetime projects. She didn't want to sign contract & Kristina contract role. IMO she made the right decision."

Appearence: Jen Lilley To Be Honoured.

General Hospital's Jen Lilley (Maxie) will be the guest of honor at Lynchburg's CINEviews French Film Festival, which kicks off Friday and continues with six film screenings throughout the weekend. Lilley, who appeared in the Oscar-winning silent film "The Artist," will take part in a special Q&A session.

In an interview with The Burg Weekly Entertainment Guide, she talks about her relief at the renewal of "General Hospital," and how playing the role of Maxie has helped her develop as an actress.

"Soaps are crazy difficult to work on," she said. "They’re kind of the most difficult medium to work on, and I’m not just saying that because I’m on it. I knew that going on. We shoot about 120 pages a day. In a normal show … 7 ½ pages is like a nightmare. We shoot 120 pages, and 30 to 40 of those are my own dialogue. You have to be able to improv, even though they want it to be script word perfect. If you mess up or if you flub, you have to be able to … make it look like it’s just part of the script."

News: So The Revolution Has Been Cancelled! What Now?

With the exciting news that General Hospital has been renewed for a year, it's time to take a breath and figure out what this all means for the viewers, the network, and other ABC daytime programs.

When will General Hospital air?

The daytime schedule has not yet been set by ABC. Best guess is that once Katie debuts in the fall, GH will move to 2 p.m. However, that is not definite.

Since The Revolution has been cancelled, what will replace it pre-Katie?

Beginning in July, with the end of The Revolution, ABC will air a spinoff of Good Morning, America called GMA In The Afternoon. ABC is undoubtedly floating a test balloon to see how this show does, with an eye toward airing it as a possible replacement, perhaps for General Hospital, down the line.

Interview: Ron Carlivati and Kimberley McCullough

This is an excerpt from the Soap In Depth Interview:

RC: “The first day I laid out (for GH) was the episode right after the explosion. I believe in the original version, you would see her death. There was talk that Patrick would attempt to operate and be unable to save her, and I felt strongly right away, that it was important that in the end, there would be hope that Robin could be alive – for a couple of reasons. First, just in the overall general landscape of daytime, with these shows going off the air and soap fans feeling so lost and disenfranchised and giving up hope for their shows, I wanted there to hope that this was not the end of Robin’s story. That was important, and whether the show stays on for one year or 50 years, I wanted to leave the door open that Robin is going to come back and get her happy ending at some point.

The reason that it was held was that we could milk the genuine emotion of her loss before you knew there’s a chance that she is still out there. We ended up having so much material (during Robin’s funeral) that five episodes became six so we could explore nearly every possible moment of emotion, and grief that any of the various characters would experience.”

KMc: “We had a conversation about it, me, Frank Valentini and Ron, before I even met them. Ron told me he wasn’t comfortable with Robin being “completely dead”. He thought it would be better for the show and the fans if Robin was out there somewhere, and they would love for me to come back someday if I could or wanted to, or God forbid, the show was cancelled. They wanted to leave the door open for the good of the character, and I was absolutely fine with that.”

IF GH gets an extended shelf-life (and it’s appearing more and more that they are), JaSam is pretty much guaranteed to end. I realize that those fans who are serious, die-hard JaSam fans are determined to believe that JaSam is safe, but they need to accept that they’re not. At all. And NO, RC nor FV have NEVER said publicly or otherwise that they will be. Paraphrasing, they’ve said JaSam will weather storms to see if they CAN overcome them, but they HAVE NOT said that JaSam is a FOR SURE GOING TO.

Quote: Will Kate and Connie ever meet?

Kelly Sullivan answered this question in a recent interview, "Soon. Without giving too much away, the episode between Kate and Connie is chilling. I call it my Gollum scenes from 'Lord of the Rings,' when he's having his moment on the log as Gollum and Smeagol. It's just so cool.

Connie always says how much of a fool Kate is and she feels many things about Kate that aren't positive, but she loves Kate and wants to help her. Ultimately, it's about finding out who's stronger. Connie is going to try to overpower Kate and take them over. 'Just have a seat, and let me do this.' Kate's going to have to find the strength to stop her, which is a beautiful story."

Interview: Ron Carlivati Gives A Preview of Things To Come!

Ron Carlivati recently joined General Hospital as the show's new head writer. Ron's no stranger to serials – he was part of the One Life to Live writing team for fifteen years, the last four of which he spent as head writer. Ron won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series during his tenure there, and brought One Life to Live much critical and fan acclaim. Now that he's at General Hospital - alongside his longtime OLTL colleague Frank Valentini (who is now the executive producer of GH) – he sat down with ABC.com to give us a preview of things to come!

ABC.com: First of all, congratulations! Everything really seems to be hitting the ground running these days.
Thank you, yes it's a very exciting time in Port Charles!

ABC: You have a history of being a fan of General Hospital, even before One Life to Live. Can you talk a little about that? And what are characters and storylines that made the biggest impact on you when you were a viewer?
Sure, absolutely. Even though I'm most closely associated and identified with One Life to Live – I was a writer on the show for 15 years and I was a big fan of it way before then – I actually started watching General Hospital before I ever watched One Life to Live. General Hospital was my first soap. If my memory serves me correctly, I've been watching it since 1978.

Interview: Micheal Easton In TV Guide

Soap opera giant Micheal Easton brings his OLTL character John McBain to General Hospital. In an exclusive chat with TV Guide Magazine, Easton gives the lowdown on McBain's bad past with Sonny Corinthos and what GH plans to do about his own wicked history in Port Charles.

Michael Easton (John McBain, OLTL; ex-Caleb, PC) had the same reservations as most fans did about bringing some characters onto GH from another soap. He’s all for supporting soaps and playing out an exciting story promised him by executive producer Frank Valentini. But he didn’t want to do it at the expense of everything built by GH.
“My biggest concern was that I didn't want to go to GH just to bait some of the OLTL audience. I didn't feel that was very valid or fair. It would just piss off the GH audience and disappoint the OLTL fans. There needs to be a really good reason why McBain is in Port Charles — something organic, not forced — and I think they came up with a good one.”

Quote: Nathan Parsons' Outrage Over The Loss of the Woman In White.

Did the end of the "Woman In White" debacle and demotion of former head writer Garin Wolf play a role in Nathan Parsons' General Hospital exit? Apparently so. In this week's Soap Opera Digest (on newstands now), Parsons revealed his frustration over Wolf being asked to step down and his character Ethan's love interest Alyshia Ochse (ex-Cassandra/Irina) being fired. Both of which he says factored into his decision to leave.
"Ethan finally gets a girlfriend and she's killed," chuckles Parsons. "When I first started talking about leaving, it had always been in the back of my mind that my contract was coming up. Then I found out that Garin [Wolf, former head writer] was going to be asked to step down. It was frustrating because he was the first person who wrote a great story for this character. It was supposed to continue on for months. They had Alyshia [Oschse, ex-Cassandra/Irina] on a potential five-year contract."

It seems like Frank and Ron got to Port Charles just in the nick of time! Could you imagine this whole Lady in white business continuing for five minutes longer, let alone five years?

Aria finds herself in Port Charles in an effort to leave behind a very painful loss. A loss that has left her devastated and off center. She is in Port Charles to make a fresh start for herself. To leave the painful past behind if she can. Her Achilles heel is that she loves bad boys (and this has cost her plenty over the years). She wants nothing to do with Nick who never takes her seriously anyway. Nick taunts her over a card game and reminds her that she is a rising star at Crimson. That she can afford to lose all her money to him in a card game. Kate could just up her salary if Aria finds herself penniless.
